    Role and Responsibilities

    The Assistant Professor for Nursing Education facilitates on-ground education instruction by incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and other industry trends reflecting advancements in the discipline by promoting an interdisciplinary approach to advanced practice nursing education and healthcare delivery within and outside the College. The incumbent will be accountable for delivering the nursing curriculum in accordance with the Program's mission, vision, values, and purposes. The Assistant Professor will engage with learners in all aspects of the nursing education process including evaluating the potential for achievement in the program and is accountable for Nursing Education Services successful attainment of key performance indicators, program and functional outcomes, and the success of the College's mission.     + Facilitates learning in the various supervised on-ground focused education (SOFE) sites, including clinical, simulation, or skills labs across the United States.

    + Responsible for teaching and evaluating learners in the Practical Nursing, Baccalaureate and Master's Degree Nursing Programs.

    + Monitors, engages, and maintains open communication with learners in all aspects of the nursing education process including attendance, performance, comprehension, and evaluation in accordance with course outcomes, and submits required reports according to published deadlines.

    + Either has an earned Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential or commits to obtaining this certification within a one-year period.

Responsibilities Continued from Summary: To perform Combat Arms (CA) training and maintenance on CA and promote personal and weapons safety to assigned installation and tenant personnel. Control and operate firing ranges; inspect, perform sub-depot repairs, and maintain small arms and light weapons (SA/LW). Duties: Performs and enforces the full range of police officer duties within the military installation. Incumbent has full powers of apprehension and detention which entails carrying a firearm, mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence and testifying in court as it pertains to enforcing regulations on a military installation. Performs Combat Arms (CA) training duties and promotes weapons and range safety. Trains and certifies Air Force personnel on proper SA/LW handling procedures, marksmanship fundamentals, weapon employment, and weapon safety procedures. Monitors/reports individual and unit accomplishment of training requirements. Monitors progress of students, documents results, and takes remedial or corrective action to include additional training, changes in training techniques and/or procedures/methods of instruction. Performs field maintenance, minor repairs, and inspection of SA/LW. Manages and/or performs Armory operations duties to safeguard DoD weapons, ammunition and equipment as well as privately owned weapons. This position will support the Federal Government's response to efforts to COVID-19. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Continued from Conditions of Employment: Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the updated specialized tactics, techniques and procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, terrorist attacks and related threats to installations. The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as running in pursuits or emergency responses, long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities. Employees engage in such exertions when responding to alarms and walking foot patrols in and around buildings. This position may require common physical characteristics and abilities and dexterity and the strength to pursue and detain uncooperative suspects. In addition, this position requires the ability to employ "infantry" small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to employ "Active Shooter" response tactics as a member of a small team. This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations. Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available. This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. Requirements - Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS Police Series 0083. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes knowledge of the full range of security forces, and police and law enforcement services which requires considerable training, experience, and proficiency to perform the full range of operations in preventing or resolving offenses. Knowledge of standardized federal laws, regulations, methods, procedures, operating techniques, instructions, state, and local laws to perform tasks. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of police officer procedures and operating methods to perform the full range of police officer activities independently to include the rights of detained individuals and organizational rules regarding the appropriate use of force to be used in the apprehension of persons. Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls and preventing unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced. Knowledge of Armory operations and procedures. Knowledge of principles, techniques, and safety of instruction used in combat arms weapons training, firing range instruction, weapons security, and combat arms minor repair procedures. Skills in combat arms resources management, including maintenance of assigned weapons, classrooms, firing range structures, munitions buildings, and weapons storage facilities. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and instruct training courses in a classroom seminar setting. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
