SMX is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support USINDOPACOM J6 Kernos deployment and integration of collaboration and C5ISR applications. This position will support onsite integration activities in Hawaii, and software/systems development work occurring in North Carolina.

The day-to-day activities can be supported remotely to accommodate the differences in time zones between the two sites. As a Principal Systems Engineer your duties will include the implementation and management of agile engineering methodologies that are intended to be made available to the widest possible audience across multiple Government and Contractor agencies.

Occasional travel to Hawaii and North Carolina may be required. Remote support is contingent on Government authorization and dependent on procurement of remote engineering resources (Government furnished SIPR/NIPR/Coalition remote laptop).

**This position requires a DoD secret security clearance with TS/SCI eligibility which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.**

**Duties and Responsibilities**

+ Responsible for decomposition of System, Subsystem and network requirements into capabilities and features to be built and managed using Agile methodologies

+ Ensure bi-directional traceability between system requirements and factory development backlog(s)

+ Establish engineering processes to manage and track system deficiencies from identification to remediation and deployment

+ Provide engineering leadership to SMX engineers working Kernos deployment and other related activities

+ Provide technical assistance in support of project demos and collaboration with external agencies/project stakeholders (as required and if available)

+ Serve as the primary point of contact for between SMX and Kernos factory development efforts, and IL6 deployment efforts being led by SMX Digital Solutions Group, including scrum attendance, key engineering engagements, technical exchange meetings, etc.

+ Identify integration and development milestones and produce backlogs activities in the form of Agile capabilities and features

+ Assist with Project Management to build project milestones, decompose high level tasks, identify resource requirements, coordinate with stakeholders, etc.

+ Participate in Kernos and Cloud Risk Management Framework (RMF) Accreditation activities as Systems Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) as required and available

+ Establish effective communication with internal and external stakeholders

**Required Skills & Experience**

+ Active SECRET clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI

+ BA/BS in Engineering, or a related technical field

+ Experience managing and integration Cloud-Based applications with on-premises applications

+ Experience with Python or other scripting languages

+ Software Development in kubernetes/container-based architectures

+ Experience defining and developing cross-system communications (Restful API)

+ Minimum of 10-15 years of Systems or Software Engineering experience

+ Ability to complete tasks within required timeframes with no supervision

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

+ CompTIA Security+ certification (or capable of acquiring in first 3 months of employment)

+ Experience in multi-disciplined engineering development environments including cross-organizational workflows

**Desired Skill & Experience**

+ CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) or ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification

+ Experience with USINDOPACOM
