Annual Salary Range:
$64,220 - $85,734
The ADA Accessibility Coordinator actively supports and upholds the City’s stated mission and values. Coordinates efforts to fulfill city responsibilities related to public accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and federal and state disability related laws, regulations and guidelines, including tracking and resolving complaints; managing the oversight of the citywide ADA Transition Plan and Assessment; implementation of strategic efforts to improve disability social inclusion; serving as a consultant and technical resource to City divisions on ADA compliance and accessibility; and assisting with anti-discrimination investigations related to the city’s Anti-discrimination Ordinance

DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to coordinate public accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III, federal and state disability related laws and regulations, including tracking and resolving complaints, assisting with the citywide ADA Transition Plan and Assessment to improve disability social inclusion; serve as a consultant and technical resource to City departments on ADA compliance and accessibility; and assisting with antidiscrimination investigations related to the city’s Anti-discrimination Ordinance.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Serves as technical resource and the primary point of contact for ADA related issues, including investigating, tracking and monitoring of ADA complaints.
• Manage and develop process and procedures for resolution of complaints from City employees, residents, and businesses regarding City maintained spaces or places of public accommodations in accordance with ADA and other applicable federal and state laws.
• Assess and assist with prioritization of accessibility opportunities in public facilities, including the development and review of City design standards and procedures; and monitor aforementioned City projects.
• Monitors the city’s compliance with related Federal and State regulations.
• Prepare annual ADA regulated reports, presents project status to Commission on Disability Concerns, City Council, and/or requests from internal and external stakeholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience:
Requires three (3) years of experience with accessibility policies or Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III compliance, including construction design.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education:
Requires equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in in Public Administration, Urban planning, or a degree related to the core functions of this position.
The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).
