ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a team that designs, develops, and integrates highly complex systems for APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) gas turbine engines within Honeywell Aerospace. You will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will have ownership for systems and components at every aspect of the system life cycle, from the front end of business development through product end of life. You will work across disciplines within the APU Control Systems department, part of the Engines & Power Systems business, to drive growth and achieve critical business milestones.

In this role as an Advanced Systems Engineer you will be responsible for all aspects of development of a particular control systems component. This includes design aspects, integration into control system and application, test planning & execution, test setup & unit conformity, test data management and reduction. Depending on the scope of projects, assignments may include more than one component.

Responsibilities also include planning out design and qualification effort, defining and managing deadlines, coordinating with team leads and project engineers on status, and timely escalations when effort is off-track, or scope is added. In this role, the perfect candidate will own the product and qualification through all aspects of the project – and are ultimately responsible for task execution and milestone fidelity.

You will report to Honeywell Aerospace at 111 S 34th St. Phoenix, AZ 85034.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking experienced engineers with product development and systems integration of Aerospace products such as sensors, effectors, and control system components used on gas turbine engines. This would include electrical, electromechanical, fuel, hydraulic, and/or actuation systems. Responsibilities include:

+ Design & Integration

+ Responsible for approved source list drawings, or build to print drawings by ensuring supplier drawing and/or part is compliant with Honeywell drawing and governing requirements

+ Responsible for development of component requirements from system level or customer requirements

+ Responsible for integration of the component design into a larger system and application and understand functions of the part as well as its contribution to larger engine functions

+ Communication / Component Management

+ Responsible for communication with the supplier, customer, and project engineering with respect to component development, including requirements management, document releases, test scheduling & conformity, and activity status

+ Responsible for participating in planning & scheduling, integrating the supplier schedule into program schedule, and establishing component program milestones

+ Responsible for writing coordination memos to document agreements with suppliers and customers

+ Responsible for all elements of source status elevation which may includes supplier qualification of the component

+ Component Qualification

+ Responsible for qualification test plans, procedures, and reports which may include approving supplier documentation and integrating into Honeywell documents and facilitating updates from customer input and final approval

+ Responsible for supplier test execution and data reduction

+ Responsible for managing the test setup and unit conformity activities

+ Responsible for generating similarity arguments, analysis, or test reports

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with US export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a US Person, which is defined as, US citizen, a US permanent resident, or have protected status in the US under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.

+ 3+ years of relevant experience

WE VALUE

+ Experience with gas turbine engine control system components such as controller, wire harness, start motor, oil level sensor, speed sensor, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, etc.

+ Aerospace Engineering experience

+ Advanced understanding of the systems development lifecycle

+ Ability to quickly analyze, incorporate, and apply new information and concepts

+ Experience with qualification test setup conformity
