Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Program Consulting Engineer to lead a >$1B production line with several contracts in all phases of the system life cycle. This position is based in Dulles, VA but includes cross-site coordination and 10-25% travel.
**Job Summary:**
The Consulting Engineer position requires an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness to lead the system definition, technical planning and execution on an effort involving several different parts of the company. The Consulting Engineer will be responsible to lead, uncover, and resolve issues associated with the design, development and implementation of operational programs. This individual will also serve as the product line chief architect, including working with the customer and OU leadership to understand and meet evolving customer needs. The work accomplished will support long-range strategic goals for the Operating Unit. The Consulting Engineer serves as consultant to senior leadership in long-range company planning concerning new or projected areas of technological research and advancements.
**Job Responsibilities:**
The Consulting Engineer will be the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering for the entire product line and responsible for maintaining and driving the system architecture in the future.
+ Develops and maintains a strong PMO and customer relationship to ensure that all stakeholder needs, goals and objectives are considered.
+ Leads a multi-disciplined engineering team and manages the technical performance of the program including cost and schedule requirements for both internal work and subcontracted elements.
+ Coordinates system level requirements development, hardware/software design, verification and validation activities.
+ Chairs major engineering review and readiness as well as configuration control boards.
+ In coordination with the SEIT lead, ensures that the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, production, test, and sustainment of products for our customers and is compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
+ Maintains cognizance over technical activities within program IPTs and in coordination with the SEIT lead, ensures horizontal integration of the best engineering practices across the company.
+ Continually coordinates with the SEIT lead to ensure the execution of program statement of work, consistent technical baselines and serves as the technical point of contact with the customer.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Must be U.S. Citizen with active or current Top-Secret Clearance at the time of application
+ BS in Engineering or related technical field & 16 years’ experience, or master’s degree & 14 years’ experience, or Ph.D. & 12 years’ experience
+ Must be willing travel up to 25% (CONUS)
+ Systems engineering experience, to include architectural studies, technical baseline definition, requirements & interface management, hardware/software integration, and test planning & execution
+ An understanding of designing and testing to risk tolerant missions
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Current or active TS/SCI Clearance and/or existing program access
+ Prior experience leading a large, collaborative, multi-disciplinary, cross-site teams
+ Prior experience with space systems mission architecture design, development, and implementation, including identification and definition of key system internal and external interfaces
+ Prior experience with space systems engineering, including space vehicle and payload design, development, and integration, including development of payload and ground interfaces
+ Experience designing space vehicles for manufacturability in a high-rate production environment
+ Experience and/or training in Earned Value Management Systems

**Salary Range:** $203,300 - $304,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
