**Where You Will Work**

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

**What You Will Do**

+ Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders.

+ Perform the removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, breaks, differentials, pumps, motors, torque convertors, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components.

+ Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as: hydraulic, power train and engines.

+ Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.

+ Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.

+ Operate mobile equipment such as: Overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks.

+ Perform welding such as: Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, and Stick.

+ Perform as a Fill-in Supervisor as required.

+ Train and mentor other employees.

+ Perform other duties as required.

**What You Bring To Freeport**

+ Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.

+ Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.

+ HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I: Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP.

+ Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English

+ Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

+ Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skills

+ Ability to troubleshoot machine systems

+ Ability to work and effectively communicate with others

+ Ability to read and use blueprints

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ High School Diploma or GED

The estimated pay range for this role is currently **$27.00 - $37.00/hour.** This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
