Nammo Defense Systems, Inc., a defense contractor, is the primary USA operation of the Nammo Group (Nammo AS). Nammo Defense Systems Inc. (NDS) develops, manufactures, and supports Shoulder Launched Munitions (SLMs), energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aerospace structures.

JOB OVERVIEW:

This part-time position (up to 30 hrs/week) is responsible for design, testing, and installation of the electronic controls systems for machinery and automation for use in the manufacture of energetic systems and materials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Apply engineering principles to safely process propellants, pyrotechnics, and/or explosives for product development or improvement, ensuring compliance with program requirements.

• Work with process and manufacturing engineering to design, program, and implement PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs and the associated industrial systems.

• Design, interpret, and write PLC code for customized material handling applications.

• Specify and verify controls requirements on new equipment and existing equipment retrofits including maintenance of controls drawings and documentation.

COOPERATION

This role requires collaboration across internal teams and with external stakeholders.

LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING

This position requires daily autonomous decision-making capabilities when working with both internal and external customers.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or higher

• 15+ years controls experience.

• PLC programing (Allan Bradley, Siemens, Others)

• Scripting with Inductive Automation – Ignition SCADA software.

• Create and interpret wiring schematics and diagrams

• Experience with ABB Drive controllers, Rockwell Automation and Controlled Components Workbench, Emerson PLCS and PAC Machine software, Redlion and Crimson software, Vivotek and Shepard software, FLIR, Fisnar Robots, and others.

• Ability to obtain approval through ATF to handle Nammo Defense Systems products and information.
