Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our centralized IT team, which oversees all city infrastructure and is expanding its responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Cisco technologies, Palo Alto firewalls, and SCADA networks. This role involves completing the MPLS network alongside two other engineers, building out a fiber ring for the SCADA network, and handling day-to-day troubleshooting and Layer 3 network configurations.

Key Responsibilities:

Cisco Shop: Manage and maintain Cisco routers and switches, including troubleshooting Layer 2 and Layer 3 issues.

Palo Alto Firewalls: Perform basic connectivity troubleshooting, implement security protocols, and manage service contracts with other vendors.

SCADA Networks: Support and expand the network infrastructure across approximately 35 buildings.

MPLS/BGP: Configure and manage Cisco 9300 and 9500 series switches.

Meraki VLAN: Configure and manage Meraki VLANs.

Microwave Connectivity: Ensure reliable microwave connectivity across the network.

Scripting (Ansible): Utilize scripting for network automation (nice to have).

Skills and Requirements

Proficient in troubleshooting routers and switches.

Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.

Experience with MPLS/BGP and Cisco 9300/9500 series.

Familiarity with SCADA networks and microwave connectivity.

Knowledge of Cisco ISE and Meraki VLANs. Basic scripting skills with Ansible null
