Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Inspector to join our team in **San Diego, CA** .

The Inspector performs required inspections and nondestructive tests (UT, MT, PT, visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with the quality requirements for Naval reactor plants and associated systems, in support of ship construction, overhaul, refueling and repair contracts. This job reports to a Supervisor, Inspection and works under general supervision. Work is performed within the confines of standardized Company and industry policies, practices and procedures. This job has decision-making responsibilities with regard to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed and the determination of measuring equipment used. The incumbent has the authority to halt work temporarily that would affect the reactor plant. Errors could be critical and adversely affect the Company's competitive position in the nuclear field. inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical or structural components and assemblies related to reactor plant operators. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress.

**What you'll get to do:**

+ Inspect Hardware following Assembly Instructions and Engineering Drawings

+ Verify specifications using Assembly Instructions, engineering drawings and parts lists, inspection instructions, and checklists.

+ Make pass/fail decisions on inspected goods.

+ Maintain records of results.

+ Use SAP Quality System to record and manage receiving inspection results.

+ Use Solumina shop floor system to record and manage production floor inspection results.

+ Responsible to assure documentation represents “As Is / Should Be” requirements.

+ Documents nonconformance’s in SAP and/or Solumina

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ High School Diploma and 4 years of experience or AA or 2 year technical degree

+ Experience using computer based MRP and shop floor control databases

+ Experience using calibrated measuring tools

+ Experience reading mechanical drawings.

+ Ability to lift 40 lbs. from cart to table.

+ Walking, bending, and sitting for long periods of time.

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

+ US Citizenship required.

+ Familiar with IPC J-STD-001 standard

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Experience in defect reporting using SAP and Solumina

+ Familiar with procurement RMA process

+ Familiar with ESD/FOD/Tool Control practices

+ Knowledge of DFARS counterfeit part prevention requirements

+ Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of applications

+ Certified to the IPC J-STD-001 standard

MAQEA

Salary Range: $54,400.00 - $90,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
