Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems presents an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Systems Administrator – Virtualization/Cloud Technologies Administrator (25-281) to join our team of qualified and diverse professionals. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

**Position Overview:**
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program functions as the central element of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, observe the progress of the battle, and actively manage designated networked sensors and weapon systems to accomplish global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that responds effectively to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by linking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations on a global and regional scale to boost performance. Furthermore, C2BMC is a key component in all system ground and flight tests, which verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system.
This individual will be responsible for deploying and maintaining a large virtualization solution across multiple remote sites. This environment includes virtualization hypervisor platforms, remote virtual desktop infrastructure, and other technologies that enhance user experience, along with monitoring solutions for virtual infrastructure. They must be detail-oriented and able to track the impact of events and actions on the underlying infrastructure, such as patching and maintenance.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Keep the hypervisor software patch and version up to date to meet vendor recommendations and support current production needs
+ Troubleshoot all virtualization and cloud solutions, collaborating with hardware engineers to ensure all physical servers are functioning correctly and firmware versions are current
+ Monitoring the health of all virtualization and cloud services to ensure maximum uptime within the enterprise
+ Monitor and alert virtualization capacity management to ensure accurate calculations of computer and storage loads, tracking virtual resource availability for enterprise expansion
+ Collaborate with other teams, such as IDAM engineering, to configure new services for user access to virtual assets using cloud-specific technologies
+ This could include examples like:
+ Creating a new security group for a specific user group
+ Setting up a Nutanix Prism Central project, linking certain VM assets to this project
+ Ensuring that only specific parts of the project are accessible to the user base
+ Deployment and maintenance of virtual desktop infrastructure ( **VDI** ) technologies that enable access to enterprise services for users, either locally or remotely
+ Examples of these solutions are products such as:
+ **VMware Horizon View**
+ **Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops**
+ Act as the primary team while working with IDAM and other teams to maintain and monitor the health of all storage subsystems
+ This includes storage used by the user base and storage dedicated solely to data storage, such as cyber logs
+ Examples could include **Nutanix** Files-based storage and **NetApp** products, such as both hardware and remote software arrays
+ Serve as the main administrators for deploying, maintaining, and decommissioning processes in a Kubernetes containerized architecture
**Basic Qualifications:**

+ A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of experience; or 12 years of relevant experience may be considered instead of a degree
+ Applicants must possess a current, active in-scope DoD-issued **Top Secret** security clearance at the time of application, which is necessary to start with the ability to obtain SCI and SAP clearance
+ Experience with virtualization technologies in enterprise-level systems, such as:
+ **VMWare**
+ **Red Hat OpenStack**
+ **Nutanix**
+ Capacity tracking for virtual resources usage to effectively plan future expansion in a multi-tenant environment
+ Experience with automation platforms such as:
+ **Nutanix Calm,**
+ **VMware vRealize Automation** , or others
+ Comfortable using network and system health tracking solutions like SolarWinds to monitor the health of both virtual infrastructure and hardware
+ Experience in creating standard operating procedures (SOP) documentation
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Thorough understanding and experience with Nutanix Prism/AHV on-premises cloud platform
+ Experience with an on-premises multi-tenant environment using role-based administrative controls (RBAC) for least privilege
+ Experience with maximizing infrastructure uptime, while still maintaining a compliant and patched hypervisor platform
+ Some experience with the administration of an Active Directory environment

**Additional Northrop Grumman Information:**
Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
